Petra Struckmeier - Brand Management DANNEMANN
Hello, my name is Petra Struckmeier. In 1981, I started to work for DANNEMANN as an apprentice. Subsequently, I was offered a job in our finance department, where I worked for seven years. In 1991, I felt a strong desire to follow a new path and I wanted to work in a more creative and communicative way. Due to organizational changes I got the amazing opportunity to work in the marketing department. DANNEMANN supported me strongly and developed me from a marketing clerk to the German Head of Marketing. Two years later, I was asked to assume responsibility for the international DANNEMANN brand management.
In this position it is most important to influence the strategic development of a brand. This means on one hand to draw concepts and to supervise projects, and on the other hand to optimize corporate identity, packaging, communication, promotion, trade marketing and market research. In cooperation with the international brand managers responsible for implementing the brand strategy in the countries, it is my job to attract more and more “smiling consumers, loyal to our brand, in every continent”.
There is one more thing I would like to mention that makes me proud of being a part of DANNEMANN: the strong focus on our most important asset – we, the people - and the will to develop us for our own sake and for the sake of DANNEMANN.
Thomas Hüffmeyer - Tobacco Specialist
Hello, my name is Thomas Hüffmeyer. In 1979, the exciting adventure of my career with DANNEMANN started with the training as tobacco specialist. DANNEMANN offered me the unique opportunity to learn through a perennial, professional designed trainee program for this uncommon occupation.
My work starts on the tobacco fields, where the basis for the quality of our products is, and ends with the perfect combination of many different tobaccos for a DANNEMANN Cigarillo or a DANNEMANN cigar. Tobacco is a fascinating natural product. Therefore, the conversation with a tobacco farmer is for me as interesting as a meeting with a sales manager in Europe. The worldwide co-operation, with people from different countries and cultures, has sharpened my view for the essential and became indispensable for me.
The actively lived corporate culture and the team spirit at DANNEMANN give me the room to develop my individual strengths. This opportunity offers DANNEMANN all motivated people within the organisation, which characterises for me this company. Raymond Strobel - General Manager Switzerland
Hello, my name is Raymond Strobel. I was born and grew up in Olten, a small town in Switzerland. I joined DANNEMANN in Switzerland in 1991, after having gained valuable experience in sales and promotion as a junior sales representative with a cigarette company. My first position with DANNEMANN was regional sales manager for the German and Italian speaking part of Switzerland. I received the opportunity to lead a team of seven sales representatives and the whole promotion team. DANNEMANN gave me the chance to apply and extend my experience in sales and promotion together with my team and to develop my leadership skills. In 1997, I was promoted to National Sales Manager Switzerland. In this position I was responsible for the whole sales force, the sales administration team and for liaison and support of our key account customers. After eight years in this very interesting and varied position, I was appointed National Key Account Manager for Switzerland and received the task to establish a key account management department. I enjoyed the work as National Key Account Manager; however, during tough negotiations I also had beads of sweat on my forehead. During my career with DANNEMANN, I had always the company’s support; through the freedom to act in my position as well as through professional development.
Since June 2008, I have held the position as General Manager Switzerland. This new position comprehends the strategic and operational management of our Swiss Business Unit. With my team, I am responsible for the alignment and implementation of DANNEMANN group activities in Switzerland and the consistent implementation of our brand and assortment strategy. Along with the whole Swiss DANNEMANN team, I enjoy fulfilling the maxim - open, honest and with fun, consistently and determined our mission: Smiling consumers, loyal to our brands, in every continent.
DANNEMANN is a company that gives people the opportunity to develop and supports us on our way. Even after so many years in the company I still enjoy it and I am proud to be part of DANNEMANN.
Laurence Weddell - Managing Director United Kingdom
Hello, my name is Laurence Weddell and I joined DANNEMANN in 2000 as Country Manager for South Africa. This involved working with our local importer and organising all marketing and promotional activities, as well as working closely with their sales and key account teams. In 2004, I was promoted to Export Manager and was made responsible for the following markets: Greece, Cyprus, Australia, South Africa, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
In 2007, it was decided that we would leave our importer in the United Kingdom and open our own company. I was made Managing Director of the new company Ritmeester Cigars UK, a subsidiary of DANNEMANN, and was responsible for setting the company up and establishing the infrastructure we required. I am currently in this position and still remain responsible for my export markets.
The years spent within DANNEMANN have given me numerous opportunities for growth and professional as well as personal development. Each market has its own set of challenges and opportunities and the diversity of roles and responsibilities has led to constant career development. Through the support of the group and its mentoring, I have been given the freedom to act and develop our markets. I believe that the key to our success as a group lies in a small team of passionate individuals that adhere to a simple core strategy. It is easy to share this passion if you are able to enjoy your working environment, and this is exactly what DANNEMANN offers.
